Level 5/6 Mega Crit

Today we looked over all the level 5 and level 6 students summer drawings/ sketchbooks and were asked to choose our favourite image. I found it quite difficult to narrow it down to one image so I've included a few, from two of the students whose work I decided I liked the most. Unfortunately, their names weren't written on their work so I can't include who they are.

Mystery student 1

These students drawings are very loose, expressive and full of character. I particularly like the woman sat smoking, there is a simple elegance to her posture and despite the fact that so little of her has actually been explicitly expressed, one can still imagine her as a whole person and the image as a whole still retains a very natural and lifelike quality.

Mystery Student 2

I think I like this student's work for much the same reasons as 'Mystery Student 1's, although in this case I feel the work is slightly more playful. Again I particularly like how characterful the work manages to be despite remaining fairly simplistic in it's form. My favourite of these three is the the last one of the figure walking. I feel it has a very human touch in the way the ink is applied sort of messily. overall it has a great sense of movement and despite being an abnormal shape, the posture and demeanor of the character sit convincingly with it's design.
